Residential Architecture | Remodels | Additions | Healthy Homes | Interior Finishes
Sometimes your family grows, and you need more living space. Tamley Architectural Design has helped homeowners throughout Marin County add a home addition for that extra space to make the home function for the whole family.
Theresa Tamley believes that home additions don’t need to look like an “add on.” When Tamley Architectural Design creates home additions, they are incorporated into the style of the existing home, or the whole house is given a “new” style, so that it feels as if the addition has “always been there.” Theresa Tamley pays attention to every detail, including: style, proportions, color and materials. She stays intimately involved with every phase of the project, including weekly construction site visits, to ensure that your home addition looks as beautiful as you had imagined and completely serves the purpose it was designed for.
If you are planning a home addition, Theresa can provide advice on what is allowed by the local planning and building department. Once the design and drawings are complete, she can manage the permitting process with the local building department. When it is time to select a contractor, she can guide the contractor bidding process as well as review the various bids to create an “apples to apples” analysis of what each contractor offers in cost, project duration and services.
A recent example of a home addition project:
A couple had purchased a home in San Anselmo when they were newly married. After having two children, they found that they no longer had enough space. They desperately needed a third bedroom and a second bathroom. The house was also too small for gatherings of family and friends. Toys were always strewn all over the living room floor, and shoes, bags and other things were piled by the front door.
Theresa Tamley worked with the couple to design an upper floor home addition, incorporating three bedrooms and two bathrooms. She also reconfigured the first floor to be more functional so that the kids had a playroom, and the home had a larger entryway. An office was added to accommodate the husband who worked from home a few days a week. The kitchen was made more functional so that the couple could entertain easily. The dining room was opened up to the outdoors for day-to-day as well as special gathering outdoor living.
